Some classes are offered through the BMPRD catalog and we hold spaces for those registrants. JANUARY
Advanced Watercolor Workshop
These monthly a la carte workshops are for the continuing watercolorist. Cindy Briggs demystifies the medium in her class with personalized instruction to help you "see like an artist" and capture the essence of your subject with expressive color, captivating design and creative techniques. Beginning Wheel Throwing
Beginners will learn basic wheel skills: centering, opening, pulling, shaping, trimming and finishing, as well as glazing. This introductory class will start by exploring two basic forms: the cup and bowl. Particular emphasis is on the successful integration of form and function. Clay is an exciting art material because of its versatile abilities: you can stretch it, bend it, coil it, push it, pinch it, roll it or take it for a spin. Instructors will show you projects involving slabs, coils, and extruded shapes. Hand-building is one of the most important techniques an artist can learn as they explore the world of clay. Learn to Knit
Are you prepared for winter? If not, this is the class for you. Students will learn the basics needed in order to begin and complete a warm winter scarf. Techniques including the knit cast, knit stitch, purl stitch, and bind off will be introduced. Printmaking Basics
Explore two printmaking processes: monoprint and collagraph in this introduction to original hand-pulled prints. Monoprint is one of the most spontaneous and accessible forms of printmaking. As its name implies, each print is a unique, one of kind image and is many ways closer to painting and drawing than to other printmaking methods. The collagraph print is best described as a collage printmaking technique, where the image is composed from found objects. Open to spontaneity; fearlessly play with monotypes and simple collagraphs to explore personal icons. $125

Introduction to Collage
A collage may include bits of colored or hand-made papers, portions of other artwork, photographs, newsprint and other found objects glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique reappeared in the early 20th century as a more formal art form. You will learn about layering, composition and innovative techniques to combine your ideas in this expressive medium. GOLDEN Acyrlis Workshop: Clean Color Mixing for The Acrylic Painter
Come and discover the beauty secrets of color and learn about the pigment characteristics that allow the painter to skillfully mix clean color! Learn the difference between the traditional mineral pigments and the new array to modern pigments. Develop color notes as you explore pigment realities such as: transparency / opacity, intensity and value. We will define the properties required to master glazing and how to achieve opacity. Compare matte and gloss mediums to control translucency and surface sheen. Examine zinc and titanium white and their unique tinting options.
