education + resource center

The education + resource center offers a centralized location for information about the arts scene here in Central Oregon and is also the headquarters for Arts Central.

We are housed in the historic 1904 Goodwillie-Allen-Rademacher House in downtown Bend (875 NW Brooks Street, 97701).

Every month is different here at the education + resource center.  We offer interesting classes (from watercolor, to cartooning, to mosaics), engaging exhibits and showcases, artists talks, and brown bag discussions about a broad range of topics in the world of art and culture.

First Fridays!

We participate in the downtown First Friday Art Walks with interesting shows from local art groups such as the Alt Group, coordinating with the Des Chutes Historical Society, COCC, Architecture Foundation of Oregon/Architects in Schools, and other unique and interesting community  partners.  In addition on the First Friday weekends of April, July, October, and December we have the Art Potters for Education pottery sale as a benefit for our scholarship program.

We are also working hard to collaborate with other organizations to have the resources and information for you to be in the know about what's happening in the Bend arts scene as well as around town.

Historic & Interpretive Signage

This building is on the National Registry of Historic homes and as of June 2010, we have completely revamped our historical and interpretive signage!

Arts Central is grateful for the vision, generosity, and dedication of The Holborn Foundation and John Gilbert for being our 2010 Historic Preservation Facility Sponsor for our education + resource center.  Thank you for recognizing the importance of the historic value of this facility - The Goodwillie-Allen-Rademacher House.

Because of this sponsorship, this historic asset now honors the history of one of Bend's landmarks, those individuals that lived in the house and impacted the development of our city, and showcasing its current usage as the headquarters for Arts Central - the arts and culture council for Central Oregon.

Please stop by to see our brand new interpretive signage!
