September First Friday -- Kid's Artwork Showcase & Riverfront Plaza Activities!!

Friday September 3rd at
Arts Central from 4 to 8pm

Arts Central and Art Station are proud to present our summer art class exhibition. Summer classes at the Art Station consist of week-long skill-building and project-based curriculum. See how some of our students created masterpieces in all mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and print-making. Over sixty works of art from approximately fifty children ages 2-14 will be on view September 3-30th.  First Friday September 3rd will be from 4-8pm.

Classes represented include: Painting Studio, Deep Sea Clay, Wheelworks, Large Colorful Painting, Clay Expedition, Super Sculpture, Art Exploration, Animal Planet, Marvelous Mosaics, Clayzilla and more!

Karen Williams, Arts Central instructor: “The three-hour summer format allows me to get to know the kids and gives them the time to achieve and develop their skills.”

Tyler (Age 6) said, "I love the Art Station classes. My favorite class was big, colorful painting class because I never get to paint like that at home."

Drew (age 4) said, "I liked everything about my clay class."

Nicole Stilson (Mother of Tyler and Drew) says, "The Art Station offers authentic art experiences for kids.  Whether they are prodigies or just there to play, they learn and create something beautiful."

3rd Pottery Sale to Benefit Arts Central's Scholarship Program!!

Art Potters for Education will hold its 3rd ceramic sale during the entire month of October with the showcase opening on First Friday October 1st at Arts Central from 4-8pm! The showcase is FREE to the public.

Former Art Station artists who either teach or are alumnus of the ceramics program will donate proceeds from their sales to Arts Central's scholarship program for youth in need.  During the July showcase we raised over $1,000 for our youth scholarship program!  We hope that the October showcase raises even more awareness and support.

“Ceramics have always been big in Central Oregon, as it is a practical way to acquire artwork by a local artisan.  We have a budding new crop of ceramic artists featured along side well established clay artists.  Great variety at an affordable price for a good cause!” said executive director Cate O’Hagan.

Participating potters will include: Helen Bommarito, Diane Burns, Ceci Capen, Diane Miyauchi, Cathy Willis, Charlene Hickey, Janet Matson, Peter Roussel, Holly Davis, and Jan Powell.
